Rightside Team: Successfully Navigating the Domain Channel

We’ve done a lot of hiring in the last six months across many different departments. One of the specific goals of all this hiring is to build upon our already-strong channel marketing and development team to strengthen the relationships that are vital to our success as a company, and to our overall advancement as an industry.

Our existing team prior to the recent flurry of hires includes Director of Account Management Mariah Reilly and Oscar Guillen’s team in Dublin. But in true Rightside ninja fashion, we’ve gathered intel on the four most recent hires who are going to greatly assist in the development and maintenance of those vital relationships. Here they are:

Titti Ringstrom, Product Manager for Registry TLDs

What are your goals at Rightside? What would you like to accomplish or what problems would you like to solve?

My goals are to enable the Registrar Channel to sell/promote new TLDs, with a focus on (but not necessarily exclusively) Rightside TLDs. This could be new programs that make some of the cool information/data we have at Rightside and make it available to our channel partners, share best practices from our O&O Registrar, or by removing business friction/make it easier to work with Rightside’s systems. Rightside should be everybody’s favorite Registry to work with!

What are some ways you think our channel development and marketing could be improved upon, and why is that beneficial to the industry?

Since the launch of new TLDs, both registries and the registrar channel have been focused on getting them launched. While there are still a few to go, we can now take a step back and look at how we can take new TLDs to the next level, to be more than “just” a domain.

There is still a lot of awareness that needs to be built, especially among the end-users; Rightside is focused on building this awareness with our partners for new TLDs in general, e.g. highlight the benefits of adding complementary domains to their existing website (e.g. www.yourname.video for their YouTube channel, www.yourname.social for their social presence, and www.yourname.news for their press releases.

What’s your favorite Rightside domain extension?

I like .ROCKS a lot, but I’m very excited about our upcoming launch of .FAMILY.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

Spending time at our cabin by Mt. Baker with my husband and two dogs, Snorri and Shoei–the hiking there is just amazing, and I’m looking forward to playing in the snow. The dogs had their first rumble in the snow this past weekend.

Is there anything you’d like to add?

It is a very exciting time to be in the domain business. While the core domain industry is mature, the addition of new TLDs has created a “start-up” environment; there will be a lot of testing and refinement happening over the next few years!

What are your goals at Rightside? What would you like to accomplish or what problems would you like to solve?

Ultimately I want to help our partners grow their nTLD business and help them accelerate their success.

What are some ways you think our channel development and marketing could be improved upon, and why is that beneficial to the industry?

I think one of the ways we are currently improving is by adding additional team members to our channel team. We can now approach Registrars with a full range of resources and support to help our partners drive messaging and further adoption of nTLDs within the industry.

What’s your favorite Rightside domain extension?

.MODA because I love fashion trends and shopping and .NINJA because it always gets people’s attention!

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

Travel, shop, play softball and volleyball, spend time with my family. In no particular order!

Is there anything you’d like to add?

I am excited about the potential of 2016 and I am so thankful for all the help and guidance everyone at Rightside has provided since I started back in April. We work with amazing people!

Leslie McGuire, Senior Channel Marketing Manager

What are your goals at Rightside? What would you like to accomplish or what problems would you like to solve?

To understand our Registrars’ marketing/sales challenges and needs and to deliver marketing programs and content to accelerate their success.

What are some ways you think our channel development and marketing could be improved upon, and why is that beneficial to the industry?

Rightside is in a unique position in the industry; we are one of the industry’s only end-to-end vertically integrated providers operating at scale and able to service all aspects of a domain name. This vertical integration offers us tremendous insight into what works, what doesn’t for Registrars. We can share those best practices with our partners to help accelerate their success.

What’s your favorite Rightside domain extension?

.ROCKS–there are so many usages … from companies that wants to let the world know they rock to college sweethearts that tell their story using .ROCKS. I use it for my email as my job at Rightside really does rock!

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

Hanging out with my family and in the summer we do lots of kayaking together. Whidbey Island is one of our favorite places and we spend as much time there as possible.

Is there anything you’d like to add?

It’s great to see Rightside invest in building out a team to support the channel and I’m excited to be part of that team.

Sharon Romes, Account Manager

Joined September 28, 2015.

What are your goals at Rightside? What would you like to accomplish or what problems would you like to solve?

One of my main goals is to help spread the word about new TLDs and the opportunities they represent both for brands and individuals. TLDs like .SOCIAL, .STUDIO, and .FAMILY hold a lot of potential and I can see so many uses for them.

What are some ways you think our channel development and marketing could be improved upon, and why is that beneficial to the industry?

The Account Management team is really front line with Registrars so we have the chance to not only spread the word about nTLDs, but also to listen and learn from our partners and customers and bring that knowledge back to internal teams. We’re always looking for ways to help everyone work better together.

What’s your favorite Rightside domain extension?

I have a favorite extension for every mood! .NAVY because I’m a Navy Veteran, .FAMILY because I’m a mom, .ROCKS when I’m taking care of business, .NINJA when I’m laying low, .SOCIAL when it’s time to catch up with friends and family. There are way too many great Rightside TLDs to just choose one, but I have grabbed my own .ROCKS domain!

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

My son and I love geeking out together and just finished our first pc build. I’m also a reader and love a good story in any form–video games, movies, podcasts. When it’s time to get outside, we enjoy taking our dog for hikes on the many trails and parks in the area.

Is there anything you’d like to add?

I’ve really enjoyed my first few months at Rightside and getting to know some of our Registrar partners. I’m excited to see what is coming up for us through the end of the year and into 2016!
